We built the thing we wanted for ourselves.
For years we built systems for, among others, the public sector. At the same time we watched private companies roll out new features in minutes in the cloud, while our customers ordered servers, configured environments, and waited weeks to get started. The difference was never competence. It was that one side had a platform and the other didn't. Stackship is that platform, built for organizations that can't or won't put their infrastructure with someone else.
Why we exist
Around 2024 the questions started changing character. It was no longer just about technology or cost, but about who actually controls the systems and the data.
We don't think the answer can be that organizations must choose between modern development pace and control over their own infrastructure. That is the choice we are working to remove.

Pontus Hjort
Co-founder and CEO
Has led service organizations for over ten years, including as head of customer service at Bahnhof with a hundred employees across several management layers. He sat on the side that waited for IT, started building the tools the business lacked, and made it his profession in 2022. Responsible for Stackship's business, funding, and partnerships.
Marcus Westin
Co-founder and CTO
Fifteen years as an IT architect and lead developer at, among others, Clas Ohlson, IKEA, the Swedish Transport Administration, and the Swedish Transport Agency. Part of the team that built Atea's virtual datacenter in Umeå, where infrastructure resources were provisioned through a customer portal long before it was called platform engineering, and a replacement for VMware DRS that delivered the same load balancing without the Enterprise license. Responsible for Stackship's architecture and technical direction.
Martin Kivi
Co-founder and CSO
Twenty years in networking and security, as an engineer, consultant, and CTO. Co-founder of SECOA, where he built a cloud-based managed service for network operations that was acquired by Conscia in 2021 and then scaled out across the Nordics. Responsible for Stackship's security operations, the installer, and infrastructure.
Beyond the founding team, Stackship consists of developers and a network of consultants and partners we work with on an ongoing basis.

The question you're actually asking
You are considering signing a multi-year agreement with a company founded in 2025. It is reasonable to wonder what happens to your platform if we are no longer around.
We have built so that the answer isn't catastrophic:
- Kubernetes is an open standard we don't own. What your developers build runs on standard and can be moved to any Kubernetes.
- Resource images live in your own registry. Running the platform and the services you've already ordered requires no contact with us.
- The platform runs in your environment. Nothing stays with us, and nothing shuts off because we stop answering the phone.
- With a license term, the key is valid to the end of the term.
We're not saying a vendor bankruptcy would be undramatic. We're saying you wouldn't be left with data you can't reach or workloads that only run on our software. That is the difference from a platform built on proprietary formats.
